Database Template Update/SQL

Hello,
I have a question. I uploaded the Case files Professional template and I keep constantly adding thing, changing thing and modifying tables etc in order to be up to date with the demands of the Private Investigation business.
My question is, If they download the new database and restore it from backup, it will restore a blank database.
For instance, if someone downloads the database and adds their info, users, data etc.... and when I upload an updated database a few months later, how can the people using the database update their database with the newest one I uploaded WITHOUT losing their data?
