Add new child directly does not work anymore

Hello,

As of release 2.9 the addition of a new child record directly to an existing parent record is not longer possible. It causes the screen to freeze. Prior to release 2.9, the child record "add" form would appear after the parent record selection that is prompted for. With release 2.9 the parent record selection is still prompted, but the screen freezes when the add form should be displayed. Adding a child record via the parent navigation works ok. Looks like the ID field from the parent record is no longer passed to the child record after the parent selection and causes a screen freeze.

This is an issue when user does not have access to the parent record (or is even visible), but need to maintain data that is related to the parent record and stored in a child record. Is this intentionally or an "undocumented feature"?

I can't confirm your issue.
In my fresh installation of 2.9.2, user can still add record to a subentity in which he has "create" access, even when he has no access at all to its parent entity.
Any screenshoot of the freeze and server response?
