Date 31/12/9999

Trying to input the date to infinite (no expiry) set to 31/12/9999 but after saving the data is shown and reflected "19/01/2038".
Having a similar date field, previously able to save 31/12/9999 but not now, could it be the updated version?
I'm using PHP 7, 64-bit. Please advise.
